  1. i) Games and sports

Games in Chepkongony secondary school started way back in 1997 when the school was started. However only a few events i.e. football, volleyball and athletics were undertaken owing to the few students.

The department has grown over a number of years as the student population increased. More events have been introduced to cope with the current trends and nature of the students. A variety of sports and games are available in the department as follows:

Some of the famous sportsmen in the republic happen to be the alumni of our school and nurtured by the department.

Music and drama are also part of the department. Our students have managed to attend music and drama festivals and they have produced the best year in year out.

We have been to the nationals twice under the boys folk song and once under the girls Islamic song famously known as Kaswida. We urge our students to emulate such girls and exploit their gifts and talents so as to boost their careers as well as flying the name of our school high.

  1. ii) Clubs and societies

The school has a number of active clubs and three societies.  Both clubs and societies are managed by patrons appointed by the principal. The patrons are assisted by student officials who are elected by club/ society members through a democratic process by popular vote.

Members of clubs and societies meet on appointed days to discuss issues pertaining their clubs and societies. Meeting days are: Clubs:  Tuesday 4:00 – 5:00 pm and Societies: Saturday 4:00 – 4:30 pm

The officials of each club and society are in full control of the meetings.
